Η Συλλογή Αρχαίας Ελληνικής Τέχνης του Μουσείου αποτυπώνει στα αντικείμενά της μια μακρά χρονολογική περίοδο (από τη 2η χιλιετία π.Χ. έως και τον 4ο αιώνα μ.Χ.), αναβιώνοντας σημαντικούς σταθμούς της αρχαίας ελληνικής ιστορίας, όπως η γένεση της αρχαίας ελληνικής πόλης και η εμφάνιση της δημοκρατίας.
Γλυπτά, πήλινα και χάλκινα αγγεία, ειδώλια, κοσμήματα, κράνη, νομίσματα αφηγούνται με εύληπτο τρόπο τη μακραίωνη διαδρομή του ανθρώπου στο χρόνο.
