ΠεριγραφήΕιδώλιο μορφής που φοράει μακρύ χιτώνα, ιμάτιο και προσωπείο από ύφασμα ή λεπτό δέρμα που δένεται με ταινίες στο πίσω μέρος του κεφαλιού. Τα μαλλιά στην κορυφή του κεφαλιού είναι αδρά αποδοσμένα. Το κάτω τμήμα του ειδωλίου λείπει. Είναι κατασκευασμένο με μήτρα (καλούπι) και έχει οπή εξαερισμού στο πίσω μέρος( για την αποφυγή σκασιμάτων κατά το ψήσιμο). Πρόκειται πιθανώς για ειδώλιο ηθοποιού.Classical period
Description
ΠληροφορίεςFigurine dressed in long chiton and himation, with a mask on the face. The mask is tightened with bands running over the ears to back head. The top hair is lightly modelled. Its lower part is broken off. It was mould-made and has a vent hole on the back (to avoid cracking during clay firing). It is probably a figurine of an actor.
At first sight, one gets the impression that the figurine represents a female. It is more likely, however, that the mask is related to the theatre and the figurine depicts a male actor since in general women were not allowed to use a mask or to be otherwise associated with the theater.
Το ειδώλιο μοιάζει εκ πρώτης όψεως με γυναίκα. Είναι πιθανότερο, όμως, να σχετίζεται με το θέατρο και να απεικονίζει άνδρα ηθοποιό εφόσον γενικά δεν συνηθιζόταν οι γυναίκες να φορούν προσωπεία ή να έχουν σχέση με το θέατρο.
