Description
Further InformationUndecorated kylix (drinking vase) with low foot. The vase probably imitates a metal prototype.
The kylix is one of the most popular shapes of the Mycenaean period (1600-1100 BC) as a vase for everyday household use, as an offering to sanctuaries and as a funerary vessel (offering to the deceased). During the second half of the 13th c. BC, undecorated kylikes were common, a fact that indicates the mass production to meet the increased needs imposed by the holding of large banquets in the Mycenaean palaces.
