Lekythos
Black-figured lekythos (oil or perfume vase). Tongue-pattern encircles the shoulder followed by a band with lotus flowers. The representation on the body depicts a warrior's departure scene. In the center there is a young soldier wearing a short chiton and helmet on his head, holding a spear and shield, while a thin himation is wrapped around his upper body. In front of him an elder figure is shown, wrapped in a himation, wearing a wreath on his head and leaning on a staff. The female figure shown behind, dressed in a long chiton and himation, holds a spear in one hand, while she touches with the other hand the warrior. The farewell scene is attended by two warriors flanking the central figures. The vase is attributed to the so-called Group of Phanyllis.
